HYDRA DDS200 cm (Dual Depth Sensor)

The Soil Scout HYDRA DDS200 sensor is another advanced member of Soil Scout's innovative family of completely buried, wireless soil monitoring sensors. Just like the DDS50, the "DDS" abbreviation stands for "Dual Depth Sensor," but the DDS200 stands out with its ability to measure even greater depths.

Key Features and Working Principle of HYDRA DDS200:

The HYDRA DDS200 is a solution offered by the Soil Scout system for applications requiring deeper soil profile analysis. With its ability to collect data simultaneously from two different depths, it provides critical information, especially in situations where deep root zones or groundwater movement need to be monitored.

  • Deep Dual Depth Measurement: The DDS200 consists of a primary sensor unit and a second sensor head connected to it via a cable. This second sensor head can be placed up to 200 cm (2 meters) deeper than the primary unit. This allows for a much more comprehensive vertical soil profile analysis in agricultural or environmental monitoring projects.

Advantages of HYDRA DDS200:

  • Comprehensive Depth Analysis: Provides unique insights into topics such as very deep-rooted crops, groundwater levels, drainage systems, or salt movement in deep soil layers.

  • Optimal Water Management: Understanding moisture distribution in deep soils enables more efficient water use, especially in drought-prone areas or for high-value crops.

  • Environmental Monitoring: Offers critical data for environmental monitoring applications such as mining areas, waste disposal sites, or land reclamation projects.

  • Ideal for Scientific Research: An excellent tool for research in soil science, hydrology, agronomy, and environmental engineering that requires deep soil profile data.

  • Data-Driven Decisions: Detailed data from different layers of the soil allow for the development of more complex irrigation, fertilization, and environmental management strategies.

Areas of Use:

The HYDRA DDS200 sensor is of great value, especially in the following professional applications:

  • Deep Root Agriculture: Optimizing water and nutrient management, especially in vineyards, orchards, or other crops with deep root systems.

  • Large-Scale Irrigation Projects: Monitoring groundwater levels and the effects of drainage.

  • Environmental Monitoring: Tracking pollution dispersion, soil changes in rehabilitation areas, or groundwater dynamics.

  • Hydrology and Geology: Studying soil and water interactions, water table movements, or physical properties in deep soils.

  • Research Institutions: Scientific projects requiring detailed soil profile data.

The HYDRA DDS200 takes Soil Scout's soil monitoring technology to the deepest levels, revealing previously hard-to-access information about the underground world, thereby enabling more informed and strategic management decisions.
